Mental Health and Mindfulness Day 5 (Cora Walker)
The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Today we watched The Perks of Being a Wallflower. The Perks of Being a Wallflower isn't just about a quiet kid trying to fit in; it's about how messy real life can be. The main character, Charie, goes through a lot of emotional ups and downs from dealing with past trauma to figuring out who he is. For me, what makes this story so powerful is how honest it is about mental health. Even when Charlie is getting better, he still has his bad days, which they showed well in the movie. When you think about mindfulness, it actually connects a lot with what Charlie goes through. Mindfulness is about being present and gentle with yourself, even when things feel complicated. Charlie figures out who he is at the same time as finding his friends. He notices what's happening around him. The movie reminds us that healing doesn't happen overnight. It's about small moments, talking to friends, feeling safe, and accepting that it's okay not to have everything figured out.
Breathing techniques
After we did some breathing techniques. We reviewed some of the breathing techniques we have been practicing over the past week. We learned the name in English and Sanskrit. We discussed what they do and how each of them contributes in different ways. We focused on controlling our breath, posture, and relaxation during each exercise.
